Basketball players Don MacLean of Simi Valley High and Mitch Parrott of Camarillo have been selected most valuable players in the Marmonte League.

MacLean, a 6-8 sophomore, averaged 21 points and 14 rebounds a game in leading the Pioneers to a second-place finish in the Southern Section 4-A.

Parrott, a 6-4 senior, averaged 22.4 points and 8.8 rebounds for the Scorpions. Parrott will play at UC Irvine next season.

Agoura High teammates Grant Landy and Kevin Jauch have been selected most valuable players in Frontier League soccer.

The two halfbacks helped lead the Chargers (19-1-2) to the Southern Section 1-A championship.

Agoura’s Diahn Matzner and Tracy Redman were also honored as Frontier League most valuable players after the girls team won the Southern Section 2-A championship with a 21-0-2 record.

Chris Olsen and Greg Friedman of Kennedy have been selected as the Mid-Valley League’s most valuable players in soccer.

Kennedy placed a total of five players on the first team, including Josh Klapow, Mark Singer and Brian Rubenstein.

Cary Grant, who will attend Cal Lutheran University next fall on a football scholarship, Tuesday was named San Gabriel Valley Scholar-Athlete of the Year by the National Football Foundation.

As a senior, Grant (5-8 160) helped lead Muir High to the Southern Section Coastal Conference championship last season. He was a wide receiver during the regular season, catching 45 passes for 15 touchdowns. In the playoffs, Grant was moved to tailback and scored nine touchdowns.
