College Baseball Roundup : Watkins, Garcia Lead Titans to 13-6 Rout of Fresno State
Keith Watkins and Jef Garcia each went 3 for 4 Thursday night to lead Cal State Fullerton to a 13-6 win over Fresno State in a Best in the West tournament game at Fresno.
Garcia had two RBIs and Watkins had one as the Titans improved their record in the round-robin tournament to 3-1 and overall record to 17-10.
The Titans, who had 16 hits, took a 5-0 lead in the first inning.
Larry Casian (2-1) pitched eight innings and earned the win. Fullerton plays Washington State, which is also 3-1 in the tournament, today.
Southern California College 2, Cal State Dominguez Hills 1-- Steve Overeem’s ninth-inning single scored Randy Frazier with the winning run as the Vanguards (11-6) beat the Toros at Costa Mesa.
Frazier led off the ninth by reaching first on an error. He stole second and moved to third on a ground out before scoring on Overeem’s single to center. Brian Sullivan (3-1) pitched a complete game to earn the win. He allowed five hits and struck out three.

Fullerton 8, Rancho Santiago 7 (10 innings)--The Hornets (3-4, 7-8) scored three times in the bottom of the 10th to defeat the Dons (5-2, 11-4) in a South Coast Conference game at Fullerton. Mike Baker singled home Jeff Oberdank with the winning run.
Jon Rice went 4 for 4 for Fullerton and scored twice. Matt Beltran hit a two-run home run to lead Rancho Santiago. The Hornets turned four double plays.
Orange Coast 27, Mount San Antonio 11--Left fielder Joey James led the Pirates (6-0, 14-4) to a wild SCC win at Orange Coast. James, a freshman from Newport Harbor High School, went 4 for 4 with 2 home runs and 7 RBIs while scoring a school-record 6 runs. John Dishon (1-2) went seven innings, striking out six and allowing eight hits, in earning the win. The Pirates have scored 82 runs in three games this week.
Golden West 7, Saddleback 3--Todd Nash went 3 for 4 and scored four runs scored to lead Golden West to the SCC win.
