Johnson Wins SCC Golf Championship

Golden West College’s James Johnson shot a six-under-par 65 Friday to win the individual title but Saddleback took the team title by shooting 360 in the South Coast Conference golf tournament at the Costa Mesa Country Club.

Mike Fox of Rancho Santiago finished second in the individual competition with a 67 and Saddleback’s Scott Turney shot 69 to place third.

Saddleback’s 360 was its best score in Bill Cunerty’s six years as coach. Rancho Santiago was second with 368 and Golden West was third with 369. Orange Coast followed with 388, Cypress had 390, Cerritos had 395 and Mt. San Antonio had 410.
