A women’s professional volleyball league will have a preview season next fall, then will begin play for real next spring. That announcement was made in Los Angeles by Steve Arnold of Tiburon and Don Green of Huntington Beach, co-founders of the National Women’s Volleyball League.
Arnold said that the preview season would consist of a 12-game series beginning Saturday, Sept. 27 at the Sports Arena.
A 36-game league schedule will begin next spring, he said, adding that commitments have been given for franchises in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Minneapolis-St. Paul, Phoenix and Seattle.
Arnold said he expects 12 franchises when league play begins.
