SPRING HIGHLIGHTS : Mission Hits Six Homers, Falls, 26-17

Mission College hit six home runs, but Antelope Valley answered with nine to win a Mountain Valley Conference slugfest Saturday, 26-17.
John Chung was 4 for 4, including his second home run this season, to lead Mission.James Coley was 4 for 5 with two home runs and three runs batted in. Darrell Robinson was 3 for 4 with a two-run homer for Mission.
Mission’s Pat Rocco hit two homers, his fifth and sixth this season.
Canyons 6, Pierce 3--Canyons’ Pete Kuld hit a two-run homer in the sixth inning to tie the score at two. Chris Cota belted his sixth home run of the year in the seventh inning, a two-run shot that won the game for Canyons (22-3).
Darrin Beer (7-0) went the distance, striking out five batters.
College Softball
Northridge 4-1, UC Riverside 1-0--In the opener, Kathy Slaten (14-4) hurled a complete game, striking out eight at CSUN. Beth Onestinghel was 2 for 4 with two RBIs to give her 27 this season, a school record.
In the second game, CSUN’s Lisa Martin (10-1) pitched a three-hitter and struck out three. Nancy Lucero scored the winning run from second base on a high-bouncing infield single by Terri Lamorre to give Northridge a sweep of the doubleheader in California Collegiate Athletic Assn. action.
CSUN (10-2, 38-8-1 overall) travels to Chapman for a doubleheader Tuesday at 5 p.m. UC Riverside fell to 2-10 and 13-21 overall.
High School Baseball
Alemany 5, Loara 4 (Anaheim)--Randy Thompson’s single in the sixth inning drove in the winning run and allowed Alemany (12-6) to advance in the Palos Verdes-Redondo tournament. Thompson, Larry Muir and Chris Mouzis were each 2 for 3. Pat Aragon and Darrell Zavatsky had home runs for Alemany. Mike Rooney (3-1) pitched a complete game, striking out eight.
Cerritos 8, Providence 3--Providence, ranked No. 1 in the Southern Section Small School Division, dropped into the losers’ bracket of the Palos Verdes-Redondo tournament and will play for ninth place. Jim Recker and Jeff Cirillo were 2 for 3 for Providence, 10-3. Cerritos is 8-8.
Chaminade 4-3, Montclair Prep 2-5--Chaminade (10-4) won the front end of the doubleheader on a Terry Siciliano single to left field that scored Pablo Suarez. In the second game, Frank Charles of Montclair Prep (11-2) hit a two-run homer in the fifth to cement the victory.
