Manchester United Falls Farther Behind

Manchester United, once 10 points ahead in the English League soccer standings, slipped farther behind in the title race Sunday after losing at home to Sheffield Wednesday, 2-0. Carl Shutt and Mel Sterland scored second-half goals for Sheffield Wednesday.

United remained five points behind First Division leaders Liverpool and Everton, which both won on Saturday and have games in hand.
