Tyson, Going for a 20-0 Record, Fights Tillis Today

Unbeaten heavyweight Mike Tyson will end his first “vacation” since he turned professional last year when he fights James (Quick) Tillis today in a scheduled 10-round bout that will be televised nationally as part of “Wide World of Sports” (Channel 7, noon, PDT).

Tyson, 19, will end a seven-week layoff caused by an ear infection that pushed the Tillis fight back from its original March 29 date. Tyson has had 19 fights as a pro, winning them all by knockout.

Tyson last fought on March 10, stopping Steve Zouskie in four rounds. Before that fight, he fell off his 12-foot pigeon coop and landed on his ear--leading to the ear infection.

Tillis, 27, has fought many of the top names in boxing, losing to most of them. His last fight was an eight-round decision loss to Olympic champion Tyrell Biggs in January that dropped him to 31-8.
