SDSU Women Sweep PCAA Singles Matches
Although tournament favorite San Diego State has all six of its singles players in today’s finals of the Pacific Coast Athletic Assn. women’s tennis championships at UC Irvine, the Aztecs are leading the team standings by only two points.
SDSU, which leads second-place UC Santa Barbara, 29-27, does not have any teams in the doubles finals.
In second-flight doubles matches Saturday, UCSB’s Francesca Heron and Lori Jonas defeated SDSU’s Jessica Buss and Dana Bleicher, 7-6, 6-4. In the third flight, UCSD’s Liz Costa and SDSU’s Jill Thomson defeated Kristin Hill and Monique Javer, 1-6, 6-4, 6-2.
Santa Barbara’s three singles players in the finals each will play Aztecs. UCSB also has two doubles teams in the finals.
The singles finals start at 9 a.m. with doubles starting at 2.
