John Balfanz, a sophomore first baseman at Cal State Northridge, has been named to the NCAA Division II all-West Region second-team.

Former Montclair Prep pitcher Rocco Buffolino of Cal State Sacramento and UC Riverside second baseman Joe Koh, formerly of L.A. Baptist, were also named to the team.

Four Cal Lutheran softball players were named to the All-National Assn. of Intercollegiate Athletics District 3 first team. Pitcher Kim Peppi, outfielder Karen Fauver, third baseman Michelle McCaslin and second baseman Becky Wolfe all received the honor after leading the Regals to the District championship and a berth in the NAIA bi-district playoffs in Utah.

Former Los Angeles Rams Coach Ray Malavasi will conduct a pair of football clinics at Pierce College on May 31 and June 7.

The May 31 clinic will be on defense. The June 7 clinic will focus on offense. The seminars will be held in the classroom at the east end of the Pierce football stadium.

Pierce is asking for donations for the clinics. Advance payment for both clinics will be $30. At the door, the donation will be $20 per clinic.
