Fullerton : Sunny Hills High to Install ‘Walk of Fame’

Taking a cue from Hollywood’s famous “Sidewalk of the Stars” on Hollywood Boulevard, Sunny Hills High School this summer will install its own “Walk of Fame” outside the campus administration building.

Permanent plaques will have the names of outstanding Sunny Hills High School graduates “who have made significant contributions to their chosen field,” said assistant principal Doug Prochaska.

The initial six honorees were picked earlier this year by a student-faculty committee. They are:

Richard Bishop Jr. of New York City, an accompanist to violinist Isaac Stern and on the staff of New York’s Juilliard School of Music; Gary Carter, a professional baseball player with the New York Mets; Christopher Cole, president of Peregrine Systems of Irvine; Sara King Freathy of Salt Lake City, a specialist working with deaf people; Janice Hobson, organizer of many youth-oriented programs in Fullerton’s Community Services Department, and Fullerton Police Sgt. Gary Miller, who has worked with anti-drug programs.

Prochaska said the initial honorees will be inducted at the high school’s awards banquet Friday in the Buena Park Hotel. The plaques, which are still being made, will be installed in the high school’s sidewalk sometime during the summer, he said.
