Renee Vincent, who helped put Oroville boxer Bobby Chacon behind bars after she told police he punched and slapped her, announced on Thursday that they’ll be getting married.

Vincent, 25, said she does not want the boxer prosecuted.

Her reconciliation announcement came after a judge agreed to continue a preliminary hearing for Chacon until next Thursday to give the boxer time to prepare his defense. The wedding is to take place Tuesday, two days before Vincent is to be called to testify against Chacon on assault charges.

Chacon, who had been in jail since the May 21 incident, was released on $75,000 bail Tuesday.

Vincent’s attorney, Steven Howell, told visiting Judge Ersel Edwards in Oroville District Court that his client would refuse to testify if called by the prosecutor.

Chief deputy district attorney Michael Ramsey, who opposed further delays in Chacon’s case, told reporters that even if the pair marries, it does not mean that Vincent is automatically immune from testifying.
