The family of a Los Angeles County Jail inmate, stabbed to death during a July, 1985, altercation with two other prisoners, filed a wrongful death suit in Superior Court seeking unspecified damages from the county and the Sheriff’s Department. The suit filed by Katherine Klug on behalf of her son, James Preston, 35, said the jail, manned by deputies, did not have adequate procedures to ensure that inmates do not possess dangerous weapons.
