Plane Severs Power Lines, Starts Brush Fire
CORONA —
A low-flying plane severed power lines southeast of here, igniting a small brush fire Sunday evening, officials said.
But pilot Alvin Kosoff, 69, of Culver City was able to maintain control of his Cessna Skyhawk and land unhurt at nearby Corona Municipal Airport.
The brush fire was quickly extinguished, and a power outage resulting from the severed lines was limited to a small area, according to Sgt. Bob Saniga of the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.
Still, deputies arrested Kosoff on suspicion of careless aircraft operation, Saniga said.
