Remaining Valley Golfers Eliminated in Match Play at State Amateur Event
Mitch Voges of Simi Valley and Buz Greene of Thousand Oaks were eliminated in their first-round matches Thursday at the 75th California Amateur Golf Championships at Pebble Beach.
Voges, who was tied for third after three rounds of stroke play, was defeated by Pat Burke of West Covina, 3 and 2 in the opening round of single-elimination match play. Greene lost to Pat Duncan of Rancho Santa Fe, 2 and 1.
The quarterfinal and semifinal rounds of match play will be completed today. The two finalists will play 36 holes Saturday for the championship.
