Local News in Brief : Crash of Model Plane Blamed in 80-Acre Chatsworth Blaze
The crash of a radio-controlled model airplane caused Sunday’s brush fire that blackened about 80 acres in Chatsworth, authorities said.
The plane carried a small amount of gasoline that ignited after the crash, Deputy Chief Don Anthony told Los Angeles fire commissioners Thursday.
The fire, along Brown’s Canyon Road in the Santa Susana Mountains, was reported about 6 p.m. and was visible across the San Fernando Valley. Firefighters controlled the fire in less than two hours. There were no injuries and no homes were damaged.
