A fire that burned 540 acres near Lake Isabella, forcing evacuation of at least 25 homes, “should be under control” sometime today, Kern County authorities said. “We have containment,” a fire spokesman said, “and outside of a few hot spots we have no pressing concerns. People are free to return to their homes. If all goes as expected, we should be under control Monday.” Cause of the fire was under investigation.
