U.S. Juniors Defeated in Water Polo Final

The U.S. water polo team lost to West Germany, 8-7, Saturday in the final of the Eight National Junior Tournament in Mulhouse, France.
The Americans were paced by Robert Lynn of Long Beach, Thomas Popp of San Jose and Kirk Everist of Orinda, Calif., with two goals apiece. Jeff Oeding, who graduated from Corona del Mar High School and now attends Stanford, added one goal.
In the third-place match, Italy defeated Greece, 12-9. France beat England, 12-5, for fifth place, and Denmark defeated France’s B team, 10-7, for seventh.
