Injured Harness Racer Bill Haughton Dies

Bill Haughton, the Hall of Fame harness racing driver and trainer, died today of injuries suffered in a spill at Yonkers Raceway on July 5.

Haughton, 62, suffered severe brain injuries when three pacers, including the horse he was driving, fell during a race. Haughton was thrown backward from his sulky and landed on his head, with his helmet splitting on impact. He had been in a coma since the accident.
