Arson was believed to be the cause of four small brush fires that started within one mile of each other in the Hacienda Heights area. Los Angeles County Fire Inspector Norbert Kochner said a county fire helicopter sighted flares that had apparently been tossed into the dried brush near Colima Road and Hacienda Boulevard. Other fires in the area were located at Colima and Casino Drive, Turnbull Canyon Road and Skyline Drive and Turnbull Canyon and Oak Canyon roads.
