Steve Kerr, the Arizona guard who tore knee ligaments in the United States’ 96-80 semifinal victory over Brazil at the World Championships in Spain, left for Los Angeles and is expected to undergo surgery this weekend. Kerr was a high school star at Pacific Palisades.
“He is out for the next college season, certainly,” said Bill Wall, executive director of the Amateur Basketball Assn., the governing body for international competition by U.S. teams. “And there is a chance (the injury) could be career-ending.”
