Three County Surfers Reach Finals at Malibu

Dino Andino of San Clemente was one of three unseeded Orange County surfers Saturday to qualify for the final round of 32 at the $5,000 Trim Malibu Classic.

Colby Outlaw of Huntington Beach and Andy Formenko of San Clemente also advanced to the finals, which start at 7 a.m. today at Second Point Beach, one-quarter mile north of the Malibu Pier.

The first 16 seeded surfers, including top seed Brian McNulty of Capistrano Beach, received automatic berths in the final and will join the the 16 who qualified during the first three rounds. The surf is expected to remain at 3-4 feet.
