Larry Holmes’ appeal of his split decision loss to Michael Spinks in their International Boxing Federation heavyweight title rematch has been denied by the IBF.

Holmes lost the title to Spinks on a close but unanimous decision Sept. 21, 1985. He failed to regain the title April 20 at Las Vegas, when judges Frank Brunette and Jerry Roth voted for Spinks.
