Police are seeking the former boyfriend of a Santa Ana woman who was shot in the chest late Wednesday.
Teodocia Vasquez, 36, remained in stable condition in the intensive care unit of Western Medical Center in Santa Ana on Thursday. A police spokesman said the bullet passed through her upper left chest, missing vital organs.
The woman told officers that she had been shot by her former boyfriend, who was identified as 30-year-old Philmon Ornelas, 30.
Vasquez was shot with a handgun about 10:30 p.m. at her North Porter Street home by a man who allegedly forced his way into her home, according to Lt. Bob Chavez.
The man was seen fleeing the home on foot. It was not immediately known what prompted the attack, Chavez said.
