Reyna’s 3 Hits and 5 RBIs Help Gulls End 9-Game Losing Streak
Luis Reyna had three hits, including his 12th home run of the season, and five runs batted in as the Ventura County Gulls ended a nine-game California League losing streak Thursday night, defeating the Bakersfield Dodgers, 7-4.
Santiago Garcia had four hits for the Gulls, who ripped three Bakersfield pitchers for 13 hits. Eric Yelding had three hits for Ventura County, while Geronimo Berroa added his 13th home run for the Gulls, who improved their record in the second half to 10-20.
Todd Provence went 5 innings to pick up his fourth win against six losses. Provence allowed six hits and only one earned run. William Shanks gave up two hits over the final two innings to record his 13th save.
Reyna singled in the Gulls’ first run in the first inning, then added a three-run home run in the third to make it 6-0.
