ABC’s “Wide World of Sports,” which has showcased many of boxing’s top athletes over the years, provides the arena today for the sport’s newest superstar, Mike Tyson.
The undefeated heavyweight, who has scored 22 knockouts while building an unblemished record of 24-0, will enter the ring against Marvis Frazier (16-1) in a 10-round bout airing at 3:30 p.m. (10) and 4:30 p.m. (7)(3)(42).
Meanwhile, in battles at the ballpark, the California Angels host the slumping Boston Red Sox today at noon (4)(36)(39), while the resurgent Dodgers meet the Chicago Cubs in Wrigley Field today at 1 p.m. on (11) and WGN, and again Sunday at 11:15 a.m. on the same stations.
And in a struggle of another sort, “CBS Sports Sunday” will carry the final stretch of the 22-day, 2,519-mile Tour de France bicycle race Sunday at 9 a.m. (2)(8).
