Manager Dick Howser of the Kansas City...
Manager Dick Howser of the Kansas City Royals, who had surgery a week ago for a malignant brain tumor, was released from a hospital in Kansas City, Mo.
“He feels well, looks well, continues to be positive and upbeat,” team spokesman Dean Vogelaar said. “He’s a little bit tired. He has to pace himself.”
Howser, 50, who was admitted to St. Luke’s Hospital July 17, was released at noon. Today, Howser will start daily radiation therapy for about five weeks.
He was released earlier than expected. Last Friday, doctors had said that Howser probably would remain in the hospital for about another week.
“Dick is strong,” Vogelaar said. “He’s reacted well to everything they’ve done to him.”
