The right leg of Jahun Honduras, 17, an illegal alien whom police believe is from Mexico, was cut off below the knee Thursday when he slipped while trying to board a northbound Santa Fe freight train, police said.
Honduras tried to jump aboard the moving train about 11:20 a.m. in the 600 block of West Cedar Street and fell to the ground, his leg slipping beneath the wheels.
Honduras was taken to UC San Diego Medical Center, where he was listed in stable condition.
