Mike Faria Wins Speedway Scratch Main Event
Mike Faria of Colton led the four-lap scratch main event from wire to wire Friday night, edging Whittier’s Keith Chrisco by a half bike length at the finish, to win the speedway motorcycle race before 3,183 at the Orange County Fairgrounds.
John Cook of Northern California finished third in the scratch main and Andy Northrup of Ontario was fourth.
Jeff Jones of Agoura won the handicap main event, followed by Ronnie Correy of Fullerton, Tuff McBride of Grand Terrace and Chrisco. In a featured match race, Cook beat Brad Oxley of San Clemente twice in two-lap races.
Jim O’Dell of Huntington Beach was the second-division main winner and Kelly Inman of Costa Mesa was the third-division main winner.
