Two minor temblors rolled through a seismically active area of the High Sierra but brought no reports of damage or injury. The first quake, which struck at 3:33 a.m. and measured 4.3 on the Richter scale, was centered 17 miles northeast of Crowley Lake, said Max Veal, warning controller for the state Office of Emergency Services in Sacramento. Nearly four hours later a quake measuring 3.9 on the Richter scale was centered 23 miles west of Mono Lake, or about 50 miles northwest of the first quake, he said. Also, a Saturday morning earthquake measuring 3.7 rippled 12 miles northwest of Palm Springs.
