NFL Exhibition Roundup : Redskins Win in Overtime on Moseley’s 51-Yard Kick

Mark Moseley, once again fighting to keep his job, kicked a 51-yard field goal 4:10 into overtime Friday night to give the Washington Redskins a 27-24 exhibition victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers at Washington.

The Redskins (1-1) had a chance to beat the Steelers (0-2) in regulation, but Moseley was wide right on a 37-yard field goal attempt with four seconds remaining.

Backup quarterback Babe Laufenberg completed 13 of 20 passes for 182 yards to lead the Redskins to the final 17 points of the game.

Cleveland 17, Miami 10--Greg Allen’s one-yard scoring dive with 3:57 left gave the Browns a victory over the Dolphins at Miami.

Allen’s dive capped an 84-yard scoring drive led by rookie quarterback Mike Norseth, from Crescenta Valley High School, who was a seventh-round choice of the Browns (2-0) out of Kansas.

Dan Marino, in his first game of the exhibition season for the Dolphins (0-2), played the first half and completed 3 of 6 passes for 30 yards with two interceptions.

Detroit 30, Seattle 27--Eddie Murray kicked a 23-yard field goal at 3:46 of overtime to lift the Lions to victory over the Seahawks at Pontiac, Mich.

Seattle (1-1) took a 27-20 lead when Sean Salisbury from USC threw a 19-yard touchdown pass to Byron Franklin with 7:52 left in regulation.

Detroit (1-1) sent the game into overtime when third-string quarterback John Witkowski tied the score on an 18-yard scoring pass to Carl Bland with 34 seconds left.

Paul McDonald, another ex-USC quarterback playing for Seattle, threw a 29-yard touchdown pass to Danny Greene on a flea-flicker.
