San Diego
San Diego police homicide investigators were called to the Grape Street Pier on Saturday where a man’s body was found lying on a chaise lounge, a bullet through the chest.
Police Sgt. Chuck Sleeper said that the body was discovered about mid-day by a passer-by who had lifted a blanket that had been covering the corpse.
The man has been identified, but his name is being withheld until family members are notified, Sleeper said.
Witnesses at the San Diego Bay pier told police investigators that the dead man was well-known in the area and had been living on his fishing boat docked at the Grape Street Pier. The incident is being investigated by homicide detectives. No motive has been determined in the shooting.
