Alberto Salazar, sidelined for two years with leg injuries, returned to competitive racing and finished second in the Alaska 10K at Anchorage.
Don Clary of Eugene, Ore., Salazar’s training partner, won the 10-kilometer (6.2-mile) race in 29 minutes 8 seconds, while Salazar was timed in 29:24.
