A Marine sky-diver was reported in satisfactory condition Sunday after a parachute accident at Saturday’s Cal State Fullerton-Nevada Reno football game at Reno.
Staff Sgt. Richard Scriven, 28, stationed at the Pickle Meadows mountain warfare training camp near Bridgeport, Calif., lost control of his parachute and hit the ground at an estimated 15-to-30 m.p.h.
Scriven was carrying the game ball and was supposed to land on the 50-yard line. But he lost control as he was trying to twist and maneuver his chute about 150 feet above the ground. He landed on the turf off-balance, was knocked unconscious and suffered a broken leg.
