Chess Break Called; Next Game Is Friday

LENINGRAD, Soviet Union —
World chess champion Gary Kasparov called a timeout Wednesday in his title match with challenger Anatoly Karpov, postponing the 15th game of the competition until Friday.
Kasparov holds a commanding 8-6 lead following Karpov’s resignation Tuesday from the 14th game.
Each player now has only one timeout left in the match. They started with three each.
