Rich Leon ran the ensuing punt back to the Rio Hondo 35 and Leon then hit Todd Stadig with an 18-yard touchdown pass to give the Contenders their final margin of victory. . . . Leon earlier hit Randy Lutz with a 13-yard scoring pass to give Faith Baptist the lead for good with 5:37 left in the fourth quarter.

Randy Johnson (RHP) completed 15 of 30 passes for 199 yards and three touchdowns. Randy Lutz (FB) gained 85 yards on 16 carries and caught a 13-yard touchdown pass from Leon.
