Faria Wins Speedway Scratch Main Event

Mike Faria of Colton won the scratch main event of the weekly speedway motorcycle racing program Friday night in front of 2,870 at the Orange County Fairgrounds in Costa Mesa.
Dubb Ferrell of Whittier finished second in the four-lap race, Alan Christian of Huntington Beach was third and Bobby Schwartz of Balboa fourth.
In the four-lap handicap main, Ferrell overcame a 30-yard handicap to win. Tom Burba of Garden Grove was second, Keith Chrisco of Whittier third, Bob Ott of Burbank fourth, Ronnie Correy of Fullerton fifth and Scott Brown of New York sixth.
Archie Perez of Costa Mesa won the second-division main event, and David Perry of Covina won the third-division main.
