A woman’s body was found Wednesday in the burned wreckage of a car in the 5000 block of Greencraig Lane, said Deputy Coroner Dan Matticks. She died after inhaling “products of combustion,” including carbon monoxide, Matticks said.
The woman’s name is being withheld until it can be confirmed and next-of-kin notified.
In response to a call, firefighters found a 1969 Buick engulfed in flames at 9:25 p.m. They doused the fire and found the woman’s body in the front seat. They called the Metro Arson Strike Team, who determined that the fire was deliberately set.
Police spokesman Bill Robinson said that because of the “mysterious circumstances” surrounding the death, homicide detectives are investigating it.
