PREP FOOTBALL : Long Interception Spurs Brea-Olinda
Brea-Olinda nose guard Toby Peruti returned a fourth-quarter interception 50 yards for a touchdown, sparking the Wildcats to a 21-12 nonleague victory over Walnut Friday night in Brea Stadium.
With the score tied 12-12, Mustang quarterback Mike Monson slipped a shovel pass right into the arms of a startled Peruti, who had an almost uncontested run to the end zone with 8:35 left in the game.
Brea-Olinda added a 29-yard field goal by senior Mike Oziminski. Oziminski also rushed for 113 yards in 21 carries to feature the Wildcat (1-1) victory. Walnut fell to 0-2.
Brea-Olinda piled up 229 rushing yards led by Oziminski and fullback Steve Teran, who had 7 carries for 71 yards. Walnut managed only 24 yards in 25 carries.
