Los Amigos High School rebounded from a big loss last week to record a big win this time around.

Saturday in Anaheim’s Glover Stadium, Los Amigos defeated Magnolia, 34-20, in a nonleague game between two teams looking for their first win.

Last week, Los Amigos was blown out by Los Alamitos, 47-0, but came back strong this week to post its first victory of the season.

Led by the rushing of halfback Lito Soifua and the passing of quarterback Andy Baturevich, the Lobos made the big play every time they needed to, scoring five touchdowns in the process.

Soifua opened the scoring with a 58-yard run on the Lobos’ first play from scrimmage to give Los Amigos an early 7-0 lead.

Magnolia tied it later in the first quarter on a 34-yard touchdown pass from Mike Tietge to Jose Myers. It was mostly downhill from there for the Sentinels, however.

Los Amigos took the lead on 50-yard touchdown pass from Baturevich to Soifua midway through the second quarter. The play was a simple screen pass that saw Soifua break two tackles at the line of scrimmage and then run 50 yards down the sideline for the score.

Soifua came back with a 79-yard run for a score later that quarter to give the Lobos a 20-7 lead at halftime.

Los Amigos ran that up to 34-7 on two more touchdown passes by Baturevich before Magnolia posted its last two touchdowns late in the game.
