The New Orleans Saints signed Babe Laufenberg, former Washington Redskin reserve quarterback, as insurance. Starter Bobby Hebert went down with a broken foot in Sunday’s game against the 49ers.

Hebert will be out for at least four weeks. Dave Wilson will be the starter in the meantime, Coach Jim Mora said.

In choosing Laufenberg, the Saints bypassed Richard Todd, a former starter with the Saints and New York Jets; hometown favorite John Fourcade, and Chuck Fusina, who played for Mora with the Philadelphia-Baltimore Stars in the USFL.
