Western Kentucky to Play Louisville, Compete in 3 Tournaments
Western Kentucky will meet defending NCAA basketball champion Louisville and participate in three regular-season tournaments during the 1986-87 season.
Western Kentucky, 23-8 last season, will also take on Final Four participant Louisiana State, Dayton, Notre Dame and Sun Belt Conference opponents during Murray Arnold’s first season as head coach of the Hilltoppers.
The Hilltoppers will meet Notre Dame in the first round of the National Invitation Tournament on Nov. 21 at South Bend, Ind. They will entertain Louisville on Dec. 10, face Louisiana State on Jan. 24 at Baton Rouge, La., and play Dayton on March 3 at Dayton.
Western Kentucky’s Wendy’s tournament will be played Dec. 5-6 with Murray State, USC and Mercer rounding out the four-team field. The Hilltoppers will also compete in the Chaminade tournament Dec. 25-26 at Honolulu.
The Sun Belt Conference post-season tournament will also be at Western Kentucky on Feb. 26-28.
