The Solana Beach City Council has hired Michael W. Huse to serve as city manager of the newly incorporated municipality.
After a lengthy search that included interviews with candidates nationwide, the council agreed Monday night that Huse was the man for the job. He will take the reins from the interim city manager, Gloria Curry, on Nov. 3.
Huse, 42, currently serves as city manager in Agoura, a community just north of Los Angeles. He was born and raised in La Mesa and worked for that city for 10 years, leaving there in 1980 to take the top administrative job in Oakdale, Calif. He has been city manager of Agoura since 1983.
Huse, one of 85 candidates for the post, will be paid $55,000 a year as top administrator of Solana Beach. Voters in the beach community, which has a population of about 14,000, approved incorporation by a 3-to-1 margin in June.
