College Roundup : UC Irvine Wins on Edwards’ Goal

Don Edwards scored on a header 26:11 into the first half to break a 1-1 tie and give UC Irvine a 2-1 nonconference soccer win over Cal State Los Angeles Sunday in Irvine.
Mike Perisi scored five minutes into the game to give the Anteaters (5-8-1) a 1-0 lead. Mike Gregorian tied the score 10 minutes later for the Golden Eagles (5-5).
In nonconference water polo action:
UCLA 8, UC Irvine 4--The nationally fifth-ranked Bruins (14-4) scored two goals in each quarter in Westwood. Dan Smoot scored two goals for the eighth-ranked Anteaters (7-6).
In Pacific Coast Athletic Assn. volleyball action:
University of the Pacific 3, Cal State Fullerton 0--Despite 11 kills by Wendy Knapp, the Titans (0-7, 6-16) lost to the Tigers (5-1, 16-3) at home.
