San Diego Volleyball : San Diego State Rallies to Top Santa Barbara in Volleyball

San Diego State’s women’s volleyball team, ranked No. 1 in the country, rallied from a 14-5 deficit in the second game Friday night and went on to defeat UC Santa Barbara in four games in a Pacific Coast Athletic Assn. match at Santa Barbara.

Middle blocker Kris Morton had 23 kills and 6 solo blocks to pace SDSU, 4-15, 16-14, 15-10, 15-4. Jackie Mendez had 27 digs for the Aztecs (31-1).

In other college volleyball action:

Cal State San Bernardino 3, UC San Diego 2--Janet Hughes had 15 kills and 3 aces to lead UCSD, 8-15, 15-6, 10-15, 15-3, 16-14. UCSD remains No. 1 in NCAA Division III play.

United States International University 3, University of Santa Clara 0--Sophomore All-American Claudia Johnson had 13 kills to pace USIU, 16-14, 15-2, 15-6, in the West Coast Athletic Conference match at Santa Clara. USIU is 3-0 and 12-11.

University of San Francisco 3, University of San Diego 0--USF dominated throughout the WCAC match, 15-9, 15-11, 15-5, at San Francisco. USD is 0-3 and 0-12.
