Tetrick Enters Baja 1000 Second in Standing

Steve Tetrick had to settle for second when he approached several Southern Section records as a running back for L.A. Baptist High in the early ‘70s. He is second in most points scored, career points and career yards gained.
Fourteen years later, Tetrick finds himself in second place--again.
He’ll try to break out of the rut Thursday in Ensenada, Mexico, in a single-seat Class 10 modified off-road race car at the 19th SCORE International Baja 1000, the world’s most prestigious off-road race.
As of Monday, Tetrick, now a resident of Santa Ana, was in second place in the SCORE point-standings with 526 points, behind leader Rick Hagel (593). Tetrick, a rookie, needs only to place in the top three and finish ahead of Hagel, to make it to No. 1.
