Jaime Garza, a former World Boxing Council super bantamweight champion who was scheduled to fight the main event on tonight’s inaugural boxing card in the Spruce Goose Dome in Long Beach, has been forced to withdraw because of the flu.
Darryl Thigpen, Garza’s opponent in the 12-round featherweight match, will instead fight Luis Hernandez. Thigpen is 20-4 with 17 knockouts, Hernandez is 11-7-1 with six knockouts. The winner will face Garza on Dec. 10.
