Anaheim : Fire Official Says Hotel Blaze May Have Been Set

Share

A small fire that broke out Thursday morning in the laundry room of the Anaheim Marriott Hotel and forced evacuation of 30 guests appears to have been deliberately set, a Fire Department official said.

Assistant Fire Chief Ronald Evans said the fire erupted at 11 a.m. in the laundry room on the ninth floor of the hotel at 700 W. Convention Way. Evans said the evacuated guests were in the top 10 of the hotel’s 17 floors.

The fire caused $1,000 in damage to the building and $3,000 to the contents. Evans said the fire was mostly extinguished by the hotel’s sprinkler system when firefighters arrived.
