Anthony Weatherspoon, a freshman running back at the University of Colorado from La Habra High School, has been charged with misdemeanor second-degree criminal trespassing in connection with a campus burglary amid reports that he and three teammates admitted using drugs.

The Rocky Mountain News reported that Weatherspoon, quarterback Mark Hatcher from Pasadena Muir High, cornerback William Harvey and third-string kicker Steve Nottoli allegedly admitted during a campus police investigation that they used cocaine last summer.

Athletic Director Bill Marolt said he would stand by the players.

If convicted, Weatherspoon will face up to six months in jail and a $750 fine. Coach Bill McCartney said the charge will not affect Weatherspoon’s playing status until after the regular season ends on Nov. 22.
