5 Division II Teams Chosen for Playoffs
Five of the eight teams for the NCAA Division II football playoffs were selected Tuesday, led by undefeated and top-ranked defending champion North Dakota State.
The others are UC Davis, Troy (Ala.) State, Central State, Ohio and South Dakota. Of the five, all but South Dakota will play host to first-round games on Nov. 29.
The remaining three teams and the pairings for the games will be picked Sunday in a telephone conference by the Division II Football Committee. The panel will review results of Saturday’s games, and one on Sunday in which Virginia Union and Winston Salem State meet for the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association championship.
The four winners of the first-round games meet Dec. 6, with the national championship game played Dec. 13 at Florence, Ala.
