College Roundup : Updikes Lead Life Bible
Mike and Sam Updike combined for 58 points Friday to lead Life Bible College to a 92-77 victory over Pacific Christian in a semifinal game of the Christ College Irvine tournament.
Mike, a guard, scored 34 points and Sam, a forward, had 24.
Life Bible plays Christ College in the championship game tonight at 8.
Center Buron Lalk led Pacific Christian (2-3) with 18 points and 9 rebounds.
In the other semifinal:
Christ College Irvine 79, Caltech 63--Center Paul Wear scored 17 points to lead the Eagles. Mark Lofink had 16 points and 12 rebounds for the Eagles (3-0).
Caltech (1-1) was led by Ed Zanelli, who had 27 points.
In women’s nonconference play:
Southern California 91, La Verne 73--Lisa Terry scored 28 points, had 11 rebounds and 6 assists in the Vanguards’ season opener.
Connie Brazell added 17 points and Laura Downey had 14 points for Southern California.
